About the association
A membership-based sports association, run by its members, accountable to them, and open to anyone in Rīga who wants to play.
History & foundation
The club began in 2004 in a school gym in the Imanta district of Rīga, where a group of parents and two former league players rented two evenings a week so their children would have somewhere to train. The association was formally registered with the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia under number 40008291673.
The first decade was modest: one coach, borrowed nets, and a single tournament each spring. Growth came from staying put. Families who joined in 2007 now bring their own children; several of our assistant trainers started here as eight-year-olds.
By 2013 the club had outgrown the school gym and moved its main sessions into rented municipal sports halls, adding adult recreational groups and a seniors' morning session. In 2016 we hosted our first federation-sanctioned open tournament. Today the association serves over three hundred members and works with nine partner schools.

The association is governed by its General Meeting of members, which elects a five-person board for a three-year term. The board works on a voluntary basis; only coaching and administrative roles are salaried.

How we operate
- The General Meeting of members is convened at least once a year and approves the annual report, the budget and any change to membership fees.
- Decisions on spending above €2,000 require a board vote recorded in the minutes; minutes are available to any member on request.
- Board members receive no remuneration for board duties. Coaches are paid according to a published hourly scale.
- The association has no commercial owners and distributes no profit. Any surplus is carried forward into hall rent, equipment and subsidised participation.
- Annual reports and financial statements are filed with the Register of Enterprises of the Republic of Latvia and presented to members each spring.
Social impact & community goals
Our first goal is access. Membership fees are deliberately below the Rīga market rate, every new child gets a free introductory month, and a standing subsidy fund covers full or partial fees for families in difficulty — in the 2025/26 season it covered 27 places. Rackets and shuttles are provided by the club so that equipment is never a barrier.
Our second goal is health across the whole life span. Adult beginner groups and the seniors' morning session exist because physical activity should not stop at eighteen. Around a third of our adult members had not played any organised sport for more than ten years before joining.
Our third goal is community. Volunteers — mostly parents and older players — run the tournament desk, drive teams to regional events and maintain equipment. In the last season volunteers contributed an estimated 1,400 hours. Nothing we do is aimed at commercial gain; the club exists to serve public interest in the district and across Latvia.
Membership
Anyone may apply, regardless of skill, age, nationality or gender. New members train for a trial period before fees begin.
Fees are set annually by the General Meeting and cover hall rent, coaching and shuttles. Reduced and fully waived fees are available on request to the board.
Members may attend and vote at the General Meeting, stand for the board, and use open-hall evenings free of charge.
